The Izu Peninsula lies to the West of Tokyo and is a popular recreational destination best known for its onsen (hot springs). Izu is also one of Japan’s biggest producers of wasabi. Some of Izu’s famous towns and popular tourist attractions include old Shuzenji with its temples, onsens, waterfalls, ryokans, and Shimoda. - Wikipedia

Izu’s proximity of Mount Fuji (Fujisan) also makes for great views over Japan’s sacred volcano.
